Situated in an area of 'considerable social and economic depravation', St Pius X serves the south Bristol parish of Hartcliffe, Withywood and Bishopsworth. The school has 'close links' with the church, and priests and nuns are involved in the life of the school. In 1998 the school obtained 28 Pentium computers, which are connected to the internet and currently provides one computer for every five children. Extra-curricular activities include gymnastics, horse riding, football, netball, sailing and computer club. The school aims to 'provide a secure, happy, caring and friendly environment for pupils and parents; to achieve high educational standards in English, mathematics and science and technology and to foster a growing relationship with God'.
