Background:
The school was founded in 1927 and comprises two main buildings surrounded by large playgrounds including a grassed area and wildlife garden. It is located close to the River Avon in the north west of Bristol. In addition to a 'broad and balanced' curriculum, the school offers a 'wide range' of extra-curricular activities including football, tag rugby, netball, art, choir, country dancing, drama and percussion. It maintains 'strong links' with the local community and makes 'regular significant contributions' to charity appeals such as Comic Relief, hospital appeals, the homeless and the Salvation Army. Sea Mills Junior received a DfES Achievement Award for improving results from 1996 to 2000 and became an accredited Investor in People in 1998.
