Background:

Situated on the southern side of Bristol, roughly three miles from the city centre, the school serves part of the Bedminster district, which is predominantly residential with pre-war housing. In the last decade, the school has been 'extensively' remodelled with an extra four classrooms, reception and office area, a new music room and a converted language room. Indoor facilities include a dining hall, library and learner swimming pool. The grounds are 'not large', but do offer an adventure challenge area, conservation area with pond and copse as well as a hard play area. 'Extensive' after-school clubs are on offer including Spanish, art, choir, musical instruments, sports and writer's club. Art has been strengthened by work with the National Trust and the design of Bristol's Christmas lights. The school has a 15-station computer suite and is a national winner of the 'Netyear' competition. It was also nominated for a national prize from the English Society. The school is proud of its 'extensive' fundraising for a range of national and international charities. Parental help is 'invaluable' and many relatives help with craftwork, after-school clubs and reading support.
