St George CofE Primary celebrated 150 years in its original buildings in 1997. It sees itself as a 'village school in the heart of the city'. It has 'strong community links' and liases with organisations in the city of Bristol like the library, museums, the art gallery, the Academy of Art and university departments. There is a 'strong sporting tradition' especially in netball, football and cricket. The school prides itself on its pupils achievements in both academics and other areas like the arts. There is a supportive Parents and Friends Association which organises social and fundraising events and the governing body is keen for the school to grow. The children themselves are involved in fundraising for others and the school has recently made contributions to Children's Hospital and Red Nose Day.
