Background:

The school was built in 1954. The two-storey premises comprise ten classrooms and a nursery unit, with a further Elliott classroom outside. Two additional rooms were added recently, one of which is an IT suite equipped with a networked computer system. Outside facilities include a large playing field, nature garden and playground areas. Most pupils come from the Headley Park area, with some from surrounding areas in South Bristol. The school has received a certificate of merit from Education Extra for its outstanding contribution to extra-curricular activities. A wide range of sporting opportunities is provided, including badmintion, rugby, gymnastics and cricket. There are strong community links, including an over-50s club which teaches playground games to pupils. Sun Life (AXA) has completed two challenges within the school and Computashare plans to run an ICT club for pupils and parents after school. A number of local businesses sponsor activities such as an annual art competition, and there is a Parent Teacher and Friends Association.
