Background:

Opened in 1952; caters for children from seven to 11; main building comprises eight classrooms on two floors; four classrooms run off both the upper and lower corridors, with large cloakroom areas and toilet facilities nearby; large hall, well-equipped for PE and drama; adjoining the main hall is a spacious dining hall with its own kitchen. Meals are cooked on the premises with about 150 meals daily. Facilities for children with disabilities: extensive ramped areas, lift in entrance hall, purpose-built toilet area. A large lift has been installed at the rear of the building to enable increased and improved access to ICT suite. In addition to the main building, there are four classrooms, together with cloakrooms, in two external buildings. Two hard playing surfaces, large sports field that accommodates two soccer pitches, a self-contained conservation area for environmental work. 'Very strong' sporting and musical tradition, with more than 18 extra-curricular activities. Beacon status (2002); DfES achievement award (2001, 2002). The school has a caring and positive ethos. Cheerful enthusiasm for school life is engendered.
